Biocide and Plant Protection Products Regulations  

From the 20th of October 2018, the active substance, herbicide safener or synergist is considered as endocrine disruptors if they present properties that could disrupt the endocrine system. Indeed it can cause adverse effects to human or to non-target organisms if it answers to the criteria listed here below (except if it is proven that the adverse effects does not affect humans and are not relevant at the level of the sub-population for the non-target organisms):

 – The active substance present an adverse effect in an intact organism or its progeny or sub-population namely a change in the morphology, physiology, growth, development, reproduction or life span of an organism, system, or (sub) population that results in an impairment of functional capacity, an impairment of the capacity to compensate for additional stress, or an increase in susceptibility to other influences.; 

– The active substance has an endocrine mode of action, i.e. which alters function(s) of the endocrine system and consequently causes adverse health effects in an intact organism.

– An undesirable effect is a consequence of the endocrine mode of action.

RRS offers to follow the recommendations of the Guide to identify the Endocrine Disruptors within the framework of the regulations No 528/2012 and 1107/2009 of the 7th of June 2018.
